چکیده

Acetaminophen is a non-steroidal drug used as an anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic in humans animals. In chicks, neurotoxicity associated with acetaminophen has not been fully elucidated. The aim of this study was to identify the neurobehavioral, biochemical histopathological effects 7 day-old broiler chicks. acute LD50 estimated by up- and- down method, then influence on open field activity tonic immobility test recorded. behavioral signs toxicity scores were liver enzymes, aspartate aminotransferase (AST) alanine (ALT) activities estimated. Histopathology brain performed. value chicks 1077 mg/kg, intramuscularly. reduced general locomotive measured open- arena, result significant rise latency moving from central square, reduction numbers lines crossed well vocalization score compared control. Intramuscular injections at doses 500 1000 mg/kg induced toxicosis, such head dropping, closed eyelids, immobility, loss vocalization, recumbency, followed death. Histopathological examination showed presence congestion blood vessels, vasogenic edema necrosis Purkinje cells. Degenerative changes enzyme function dysfunction. Our results show behavioral, data demonstrating that high produced

Effects of acute manganese neurotoxicity in young chicks.

Manganese (Mn) is an industrial neurotoxicant in humans and animal models limited to rodent species. The present study analyses the potential neurotoxicity of acute Mn administration in young chicks. The acute (24 h) LD50 values of Mn following intraperitoneal, intramuscular, subcutaneous and oral administrations of MnCl2 in seven-day-old chicks were 21.3 mg kg-1, 28.1 mg kg-1, 28.1 mg kg-1 and...

Protective Role of Oleuropein against Acute Deltamethrin- Induced Neurotoxicity in Rat Brain

Background: Deltamethrin (DM) is a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide that can elicit neurotoxicity, leading to apoptosis. There is accumulating evidence that oleuropein (OE) has anti-apoptotic effect. The purpose of this study was to determine the anti-apoptotic effect of OE pretreatment in the neuronal cells of cerebral cortex. Methods: Rats were randomly divided into four groups each containin...

Evaluation of Prothrombin Time in Acute Acetaminophen Overdose treated by N-acetylcysteine

Background: Acetaminophen (N-Acetyl-p aminophenol; APAP) is one of the most common types of analgesics. It is also the most common xneobitic reported to poison centers. This study investigates if therapeutic doses of NAC can falsely increase coagulation tests, prothrombin time (PT) and bleeding time (BT). Methods: Thirty-six APAP poisoned patients whose acetaminophen serum concentration were...
